Editorial Policy

This page sets out the rules our editorial team works to. It applies to every guide, page, and email we publish.

Accuracy

Clinical claims must be supported by a source we can link to, and that source must meet the hierarchy described in how we research. When the evidence is uncertain, the article says so in the article, not in a footnote. When a claim is our own inference from owner reports, it is labelled as such.

We do not publish a number we cannot source. If a cost range comes from our own survey, the sample and collection date are stated.

Authorship and review

Every guide names the person who wrote it. Where a veterinarian has reviewed the article, their name and credentials appear in the byline and in the page’s structured data. Where no vet has reviewed it, no reviewer is claimed. We do not use stock personas, pen names that imply clinical credentials, or reviewer names we cannot substantiate.

Independence and advertising

The site carries display advertising and affiliate links. Both are labelled, and neither influences editorial content. Specifically:

  • Advertisers have no sight of articles before publication and no right to change them.
  • Affiliate commission does not determine whether a product is mentioned, how it is ranked, or what we say about it.
  • We do not accept payment for reviews, sponsored placements inside guides, or link insertions.
  • We do not take referral fees from veterinary practices, hospitals, or surgeons.

Medical boundaries

Our content is educational. It is not veterinary advice, it does not create a veterinarian-client relationship, and it cannot substitute for an examination. We do not provide diagnoses, treatment plans, or drug dosages, and we do not answer individual case questions by email.

Updates and corrections

Guides are reviewed periodically and whenever new guidance appears. Each page shows its last-updated date at the top and in its structured data. Substantive changes are recorded in the corrections log with the date and a description of what changed; we do not quietly rewrite a page and reset the date.

If you believe something on this site is wrong, email us with the page and, if you have one, a source. We will respond, and if the error is confirmed we will correct it and log it.

Comments and reader contributions

We do not host open comments on health guides. Unmoderated threads become places where owners exchange dosing advice and paralysis “remedies”, and that is a risk we are not willing to create. Reader reports that are useful are summarised in articles, with permission, and never presented as clinical evidence.
